FIRST Robotics Team 801 Horsepower to Compete at Smoky Mountain Regional Competition
FIRST Robotics Team 801 Horsepower is requesting School Board approval to compete at the Smoky Mountain Regional Competition in Knoxville, TN on March 31-April 2, 2011. This trip is during Spring Break and no school days will be missed.
Approximately twenty-five (25) students and seven (7) adult chaperones from Merritt Island High School, Edgewood Junior Senior High School and Jefferson Middle School plan to travel with their parents or by rental car to Knoxville, TN. The team will stay at the Comfort Suites North in Knoxville. The rental van will be driven and chaperoned by Mr. Jeremy Moore of Edgewood Junior Senior High School and one of our school system approved mentors along with a maximum of five (5) students. The remaining students will be traveling with their own parents and families which could consist of mentors, or spectators and siblings, etc.
The cost of approximately $200 per student will cover transportation, hotel and food and will be paid through student fundraising. Team funds will pay for competition entry fees and robot related expenses. There will be no cost to the District.
