Restraint and Seclusion, Student Education Policies and Procedures (SP&P)
House Bill 1073, which became effective on July 1, 2010, created section 1003.573, F.S., "Use of seclusion and restraint on students with disabilities." This statute establishes documentation, reporting, and monitoring requirements and requires that the use of restraint and seclusion be addressed in the district's SP&P, via an amendment. The General Policies and Procedures for the use of restraint and seclusion in Brevard Public Schools are attached.
Approve the amended Student Education Policies and Procedures (SP&P) for submission to the Florida Department of Education.
