Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School Wind Ensemble Performance in Washington, D.C.
The Cocoa Beach Junior/Senior High School Wind Ensemble has been asked to participate in a performance at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. on March 28, 2010. The students' participation in this event will allow them to have a wonderful performance experience at a national monument and give them the opportunity to visit and tour the Capitol Building, White House, National Archives and many other historically important museums and monuments. An itinerary is attached. In addition, this experience will help foster and develop group cohesiveness and teamwork that encompass the character education of the complete child.
Forty students and a minimum of 13 parents and chaperones will travel to Washington D.C. on March 25 and will return to school on March 30, 2010. Students will miss one day of school. The cost to each participant will be $425.00. Students will have the opportunity to offset the entire cost of their trip by participating in all of the scheduled fund raisers. Students may participate in as many or as few fund raisers as they wish, offsetting their costs accordingly. There will be no cost to the school or district.
Transportation will be provided by the Brevard County approved Travelynx Bus Charter service. Lodging will be at Spring Hills Suites, 22595 Shaw Road, Sterling, VA 20166.
