Job Description - Director-Information Technology
Technical certifications, such as Cisco or Microsoft, were initially included in this job description as carryovers from when the position was a Manager-level role. Although useful for telecommunications design, they are intended more for hands-on professionals. As a Director in this industry, such certifications are not imperative and requiring them could easily jeopardize attracting an otherwise very well qualified candidate.
Therefore, it is requested that the requirement for a Cisco or Microsoft certification be removed from the qualification requirements for this role. There are no changes in salary to this position.
Recommend approval of the revised job description, removing the requirement for Cisco and/or Microsoft certifications.
