01-21-2014 Regular School Board Meeting
Agenda Item #9

Title
Resolution of Support for the All American Flag Act

Discussion

The All American Flag Act, a bill recently introduced in Tallahassee began as a class project in Matthew Susin's American Government class.

Students in Susin's class learned that most American flags are made in China, a fact they found alarming. The Eau Gallie High School students worked with Representative Ritch Workman researching how other states addressed the issue and then made a suggestion how Florida could pass a law insisting flags used by state and local governments to be American made.

In October, 2013 Representative Workman filed HB 201, requiring U.S. and Florida flags to be made only from materials grown, produced and manufactured in the United States.
