Field Trip - Merritt Island FIRST Robotics team 801 - FIRST Finger Lakes Regional, Rochester, NY

Discussion
The Robotics Team is planning to attend the FIRST Finger Lakes Regional, Rochester, NY on March 25-30, 2014.  There will be approximately twelve (12) to eighteen students (18) and  five (5) adult chaperones who are both male and female.  One (1) chaperone is a current Brevard Public School employee, one (1) is a logistic specialist mentor from NDEP, one (1) is a project engineer manager mentor with Lockheed Martin, one (1) is a biomedical engineer mentor from NASA and one (1) is an electrical engineer mentor with QinetiQ.  All these chaperones are properly fingerprinted with the District.  The team will travel by plane and will be staying at a FIRST authorized hotel closest to the event.  Students will be either walking or taking public transportation from the hotel to the Gordon Field House.  This trip is scheduled during Spring Break so no school days will be missed.  The trip will be funded by various fundraisers and business partners including Jacobs Technology, NDEP, Lockheed Martin, QinetiQ and Brevard Public Schools.  There will be no cost to the District. 

Recommendation
Approve the request for the Merritt Island Robotics Team Horsepower to attend the FIRST Finger Lakes Regional, Rochester, NY on March 25-30, 2014.
