Agenda Item #26
Title I School Improvement Grant
In December, the State released the Request for Applications (RFAs) for Title I School Improvement Initiative under section 1003(a) of Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Act. The district's allocation is $59,343. By law these funds must be used for Title I schools classified as Prevent, Focus, or Priority under the Differentiated Accountability system. Priority for the use of these funds must be given to the lowest-achieving schools. The grant application, which must be submitted online, will stipulate that funds are to be spent in support of strategies in individual School Improvement Plans and the District Improvement and Assistance Plan. Major focus areas are professional development for teachers and extended learning time for targeted groups of students.
In order to meet the state deadline, the Superintendent has signed the application. A copy of the grant application is available online.
