Agenda Item #30
Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County, Inc.: Quality Services For Teen-Age Parent Program
The purpose of this item is to seek permission to accept the award of the Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County's Florida First State Grant for the Teen-Age Parent Program. The delay between the initial consent to write and submit, granted September 11, 2012, and the request for permission to accept the grant, resulted from the contract not being finalized until December 20, 2012.
The purpose of this grant is to provide a continued home visitation program and the administration of the Ages and Stages Questionnaire Developmental Screening Tool to support parents in their role as their child's first and lifelong teacher. It will promote access to community resources, safe home environments, family literacy, and parents' understanding of their child's development and school readiness. This grant will supply four home visitors and one project manager paid consultant for up to 20 hours a week at $25.00 per hour.
This grant will be located in the Office of Student Services.
