They are now a cross-functional team and able to solve problems more like a "one stop shop."

They look at the child with the Big 5 areas of focus: Social/Emotional, Equitable Discipline, Early Literacy, Algebra I and Graduation Rate/College Career

Mrs. Belford commented that this team is the one who has gone through the most changes and she said it is a pleasure to work with them. She said that no one is working in silos now and they have taken collaboration to a new level.

Mr. Ziegler expressed that he is glad to see the focus on the social and emotional aspect of children.

There were questions about resources and expectations.

Mr. Susin wanted to make sure that we are offering students opportunities to "fit in" at all levels so they have a place where they belong.  That is the only way to ensure some students will stay in school.

Mrs. Descovich asked if we had considered community counselors as a way to fill in some of the gap in school counselors.

There was  discussion about 26 vs. 24 credits for graduation.

Closing Remarks

Minutes:

Mr. Craig thanked everyone and asked how we get the word out about this transformation to everyone. Dr. Blackburn felt that the best communications is to do really good work.  He cautioned that the greatest threat comes down to resources; the biggest one being time.  He would like to produce a list of items that staff can stop doing in order to focus on the more important issues.

The Board agreed.

Chairperson Belford thanked everyone for their time and effort toward the restructured focus.
