Field Trip - Rockledge High, Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High & Viera High Schools FIRST Robotics Team #233 - Robotics Regional Competition in Washington, DC and Robotics World Championship Event in St. Louis, MO

Discussion

The FIRST Robotics Team #233 consisting of approximately 40 students from Rockledge High, Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High and Viera High and four  chaperones will travel by Air Tran to Washington, D.C. March 23-28, 2011 for the FIRST Robotics Regional Competition.  Thursday through Saturday are competition days with a team party on Friday night.  The event will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.  Students will return home on Monday, March 28th.  An itinerary will be furnished closer to the event.  All documentation and permission forms will be completed.  Chaperones (Marian Passmore, Michael Dininny, Andy Bradley, Kit Gerhart) are fingerprinted by Brevard Public Schools.  All expenses are covered by fundraisers and donations.  There will be no cost to the district.

The team will also attend the FIRST Robotics World Championship Event in St. Louis, MO April 27 - May 1, 2011.  They will travel by air to St. Louis.  The event will be held at the Edward Jones Dome.  Thursday through Saturday are competition days with a team party on Saturday night.  Students will return home on Sunday, May 1st.  All expenses are covered by fundraisers and donations.  An itinerary will be furnished closer to the event.  There will be no cost to the district.  



Recommendation

Approve the request for the Rockledge High, Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High & Viera High FIRST Robotics Team #233 consisting of approximately 40 students and four chaperones to participate in the Robotics Regional Competition in Washington, DC on March 23-28, 2011.  Students will miss two days of school.     

Approve the request for the FIRST Robotics Team #233 consisting of approximately 40 students and four chaperones to participate in the Robotics World Championship Event in St. Louis, MO on April 27 - May 1, 2011.  Students will miss three days of school.
