American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) 2009 Budget Amendment

Discussion

As required by the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE), the Office of Exceptional Student Education will submit a quarterly report due in April 2011 to indicate expenditures of our American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) 2009 allocation of funds.  During the time of quarterly reporting, school districts are permitted to amend ARRA budgets that involve changes to labor/contract related items.  We recommend that $500,000.00 of our total ARRA allocation be budgeted for professional services from Brevard County Health Department for nurses to serve the medical needs of students with disabilities in schools.

The FLDOE requires the completion and Board approval of State forms 150 and 151 that address budget amendments to the original grant application.  Once approved by the Board, these forms must be mailed under separate cover to support the budget amendments sent in the district's quarterly report.  The FLDOE will then exercise its determination to approve or not approve such amendments requested by a district.



Recommendation

Approve FLDOE generated forms 150 and 151 to support Brevard Public Schools' quarterly report with changes requested to the previously Board approved American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) 2009 (April 28, 2009).
