Contracted Services Agreement between the Office of Title I and Dr. Cathy Vatterott
Dr. Cathy Vatterott will present two half-day workshops for Title I teachers and administrators on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 and three workshops (north, central and south areas) for Title I parents on Wednesday and Thursday, April 14-15, 2010. These workshops on Rethinking Homework are designed to provide teachers, administrators and parents with research based strategies for working collaboratively to improve the quality and effectiveness of homework and increase student achievement. They will stimulate discussion about the value of homework, its connection to school achievement, and the roles of parents and schools in the homework process.
Title I funds will support the staff and parent development cost of $6,540. This amount includes the cost of the five workshop sessions for staff and parents, taping the workshops (for additional faculty and parent training), airline travel and lodging for the presenter. The cost of substitutes for Title I classroom teachers who attend a half-day workshop will also be paid with Title I funds.
Teachers and administrators will implement presented strategies in their schools and discuss the effectiveness of implemented strategies and/or strategy modifications with colleagues at faculty, staff and/or grade level meetings. Parents will implement presented strategies at home and discuss the effectiveness of implemented strategies and/or strategy modifications at school and district level meetings (e.g. PTO, Parent Leadership Team, Title I Parent Involvement meetings, etc.)
Approve the Contracted Services Agreement for $6,540 between the Office of Title I and Dr. Cathy Vatterott for the parental involvement/professional development training sessions on Rethinking Homework to be held on Wednesday and Thursday, April 14-15, 2010. Dr. Vatterott will provide a total of five workshop sessions.
