Agenda Item #41
Revision to Board Policy 3362
At the request of the Board, the Superintendent was asked to add specific language to existing policy that prohibit discrimination related to a person’s sexual orientation and gender identity. This policy was identified as one of the policies that needed to be changed. In addition to these requested changes additional changes such as changing the policy from an Anti-Harassment policy to a policy of Non-Discrimination were done to better aligned the policy to industry standards.
The policy now includes proposed language that identifies sexual orientation and gender identity as a form of sex discrimination which is in keeping with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commissions (EEOC) definition of sex discrimination. In addition, the policy has incorporated EEOC definitions into this policy.
