Agenda Item #28
Certification of Florida Inventory of School Houses (FISH) Data
State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF) 6.1(7) requires that "Prior to April 1, of each year, each district shall review the Florida Inventory of School Houses (FISH) and shall certify to the Office of Educational Facilities (OEF) that the inventory is current and accurate."
1013.31(1)(b)1 F.S. requires the Net Square Footage and the Student Stations reported in FISH to be at least 95% accurate. Last year, the OEF team audited six Brevard schools representing 5% of our total space and determined that our FISH data for those six schools was 99.22% accurate for net square footage and 99.15% accurate for student stations.
Note that the Facilities Services Department inputs all permitted construction projects and surveys an average of one facility each week to maintain an accurate FISH database.
Authorize the Board Chair and the Superintendent to sign the Certification Form, certifying to the Florida Department of Education that Brevard County School District's Florida Inventory of School Houses (FISH) data is current and accurate, pursuant to applicable statutes and rules.
