Eau Gallie High School FIRST Robotics Team to Attend Palmetto Regional Competition at Clemson University in South Carolina
Discussion
Permission is requested for the Eau Gallie High School FIRST Robotics team to attend the Palmetto Regional Competition at Clemson University in South Carolina. The dates of the competition are March 24 - 29, 2009. The group will leave after school on Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Students will miss three 1/2 days of school. Approximately thirteen students and eight adult mentors/chaperones (both male and female) will be attending. All adult mentors are fingerprinted and on file with the district and parent chaperones are listed as volunteers. Transportation to South Carolina will be on Amtrak. Approved private vehicles will be used to transport the group to Kissimmee to the Amtrak Station. Upon arrival in South Carolina, the group will be transported by charter bus from the Amtrak Station to Clemson University. There will be no cost to the district. The total cost of the trip per student is $260; however funding is provided by corporate sponsorships, donations and fund raisers to offset the cost.
Recommendation
Approve the trip for the Eau Gallie High School FIRST Robotics Team to attend the competition at Clemson University in South Carolina on March 24-29, 2009.
