MISSION: TO SERVE EVERY STUDENT WITH EXCELLENCE AS THE STANDARD
Agenda Item #41
H-5. School Advisory Council Membership Report
The School Advisory Council (SAC) membership reports being submitted for your approval are from the 85 schools and the alternative school sites. Each public school in Florida is required by law to establish an advisory council. The School Advisory Council is to be the sole body responsible for final decision making at the school relating to implementation of the provisions of ss.1001.42(16) and 1008.345.
The principal and the SAC chair of each school must review the membership report to ascertain that the majority of the members are persons who are not employed by the school. In addition, the School Advisory Council must be composed of the principal, a balanced number of teachers, educational support employees, high school students (elementary and middle optional), parents, and other business and community citizens who are representative of the ethnic, racial, and economic community served by the school.
The Brevard County SAC membership reports have been reviewed and comply with ss.1001.42(16) of the Florida Statutes. A copy of the membership report for each school is on file in the Office of School Improvement.
