Merritt Island High StangSat Club field trip to San Luis Obispo, California
The Merritt Island High School StangSat Club is requesting permission to travel to California Polytechnic University. Approximately nine students and two, or more, fingerprinted male and female chaperones will be attending. The StangSat team will be constructing two satellites and putting them in a package to be included on the rocket that will be made and launched in the Fall of 2016 from Cape Canaveral, FL. They will also be touring Vandenberg Air Force base and the California Polytechnic University. The students will be sightseeing around the San Luis Obispo area but the majority of their time will be spent in the Cal-Poly facility. No school days will be missed as the trip is scheduled during summer break. The trip will be funded by the students, various fundraisers, and business partners. There will be no cost to the district.
