Agenda Item #11
Florida Music Educators Association Award Recipients
The Florida Music Educator Association (FMEA) awards the Secondary Music Enrollment Award to music programs demonstrating high enrollment in music courses. This award recognizes the effectiveness of programs that offer attractive music curricula as well as those that excel in the recruitment and retention of students. Schools that meet the criteria hold the award for three years, during which time they may be asked to serve FMEA as a resource on the topics of programming, scheduling, recruitment and retention of students. To qualify for the award, 35 percent at the high school level and 45 percent at the middle school level of the entire student body, as reported during October FTE, must be enrolled in music courses. Since 1994, twenty of Brevard's secondary schools have earned this award, many of them multiple times. This year's middle school recipients are Central, Johnson, Southwest, Jefferson, and West Shore. The high school recipients are West Shore and Satellite.
To recognize five middle schools and two high schools for receiving the FMEA Secondary Music Enrollment Award.
