Head Start Policies and Procedures

Discussion

The purpose of this board agenda item is to formally submit for approval the policies and procedures developed to ensure the Head Start program is operated in compliance with federal regulations.  Written policies and procedures are required for the following program areas:  Program Governance; Management Systems; Eligibility, Recruiting, Selection, Enrollment and Attendance (ERSEA); Early Childhood Development and Education; Early Childhood Development and Health Services; Parent, Family and Community Engagement (PFCE); and Child Mental Health and Disabilities Services.

The Head Start Policies and Procedures manual is available for review in the Office of the School Board and the Office of Early Childhood.  Existing School Board policies were used to develop Head Start policies and procedures when applicable and are referenced throughout the document.



Recommendation
Approve the Head Start Policies and Procedures that were written based on current School Board policy and requirements defined in the Head Start Act and Performance Standards.
