Agenda Item #31
Certification of Florida Inventory of School Houses (FISH) Data
State Requirements for Education Facilities (SREF) 6.1(7) requires that, "Prior to April 1 of each year, each district shall review the Florida Inventory of School Houses (FISH) and shall certify to the Office (of Educational Facilities) that the inventory is current and accurate."
1013.31(1)(b)1 F.S. requires the Net Square Footage and the Student Stations reported in FISH to be at least 95% accurate. During the last audit in 2009 by the Office of Educational Facilities (OEF) six Brevard County schools, representing 5% of our total space, were inspected. We were notified that our FISH data for those six schools was 99.17% accurate. According to the OEF, this level of accuracy was among the top three in the state at that time.
The Facilities Planning Department inputs all permitted construction projects and surveys an average of one facility each week to maintain an accurate FISH database.
