H-6. Field Trip for FIRST Robotics Team #233 (Rockledge High, Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High, and Viera High School) and FIRST Robotics Team #425 (Eau Gallie High School) to participate in World Championship Event in Atlanta, GA, April 16-20, 2008
Robotics Team #233, consisting of approximately 40 students from Rockledge High School, Viera High School and Cocoa Beach Junior/Senior High School will travel from Rockledge, Florida to Atlanta, Georgia by Executive Tours Charter Bus to participate in the FIRST Robotics World Championship. One Rockledge High School teacher and five registered chaperones (two females and four males) will travel with the team. Students and chaperones will travel and arrive on Wednesday, April 16 and tour Georgia Tech. Hotel accommodations are at the Omni Hotel at the CNN building. Competition days are Thursday through Saturday, with a team party on Saturday night. Students will arrive back home on Sunday, April 20, 2008. The itinerary will be furnished closer to the event date. All documentation and permission forms will be completed. Students will be responsible to make up any work missed. Expenses will be covered by fundraising. No student will be left out due to his or her inability to pay. There will be no cost to the district.
The Robotics Team #425 (consisting of approximately 25 students from Eau Gallie High School and West Shore Junior/Senior High School) has also been selected to compete in the FIRST Robotics World Championship event in Atlanta, April 16-20, 2008. Two female advisors and two chaperones (one female and one male) will accompany the team. This team will travel on the same charter as Robotics Team #233. Team #425 will use funds that it has on deposit with the Brevard Schools Foundation to cover expenses of the trip. The students will have no out-of-pocket expenses. There will be no cost to the district.
Students will miss three student days.
Approve the field trip request for Robotics Team #233 and Robotics Team #425 to compete in the FIRST Robotics World Championship Event in Atlanta, Georgia, April 16-20, 2008.
