21st Century Community Learning Center Grant 2011-12 (Zoo Explorers South)
Brevard Public Schools' Office of Adult /Community Education will partner with the Brevard Zoo, Health First Pro-Health and Fitness, and Melbourne Police Athletic League (PAL), to provide quality after school services for students and support for parents of children who attend four elementary schools: Croton, Dr. W. J. Creel, Sabal and Sherwood.
Using funds from this project, these schools will become 21st Century Community Learning Centers. The "Zoo Explorers South" program is designed to bring enhanced learning opportunities to eligible students. The Brevard Zoo, Health First Pro-Health and Fitness and Melbourne Police Athletic League have established programs designed to use school sites and zoo facilities after school. Staffing, programming and bus transportation for eligible students will be provided.
This proposal with permission to write and submit was board approved on May 10, 2011, Agenda Item #27.
Copies of the application will be located in the Adult Education grant office at North Area Adult Education Center.
Approve to accept a five-year 21st Century Learning Center grant offered by the FLDOE, for Adult/Community Education, in the total amount of $3,080,000.00 to be distributed as follows:
