Palm Bay High School Trip to VEX Robotics Competition of the Americas in Omaha, Nebraska
The Palm Bay High School PiraTech FIRST VEX Robotics Competition Team has been invited to participate in the VEX Robotics Competition of the Americas in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 1-5, 2009. The Palm Bay High team is the only Florida team invited to attend. Nine students and two chaperones plan to participate in the trip.
The group plans to make airline reservations to leave on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, and return on Sunday, April 5, 2009. They will stay at the Embassy Suites in The Old Town Market in Omaha. The cost will be approximately $800 per student. Parents will pay for $300 of the transportation/hotel costs and fundraising events/sponsorships will be covering the remaining $500 of the expenses. Funding has been raised through car washes, catering teen dances for the Palm Bay Community Center, The Able Trust, and business sponsorships. There will be no cost to the District. The students will miss three days of school (April 1-3).
