Agenda Item #43

Title
DeLaura Middle School - Guaranteed Maximum Price for Phase II HVAC Renewal

Discussion

The HVAC system at DeLaura Middle School serving the entire campus has deteriorated to the point that it is nearing the end of its useful life. The first of three phases was completed during summer 2014 which included replacing the equipment in the central HVAC plant and piping for this system which was identified as part of the FY 2013-14 capital budget.

Canaveral Construction Company, Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) under their continuing contract for design-build Services in the amount not to exceed $1,997,507.72 for Phase-II of the HVAC system renewal, which includes buildings 2 and 4. The total project budget for this phase, including construction and administrative expenses is estimated not to exceed $2,161,107.32.

Adequate funding has been identified in the FY 2014-15 capital budget for the project, which may be partially restored once sales tax revenues are received.

School Board approval is required for Purchase Orders over $25,000. In order to expedite the work, approval is requested as consent item without prior information.
