03-11-2008 Regular School Board Meeting
Agenda Item #19

Title
F-13. Certification of Florida Inventory of School Houses (FISH) Data

Discussion

State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF) 2008 §6.1(7)(c) requires that, “Prior to April 1 of each year, each district shall review the Florida Inventory of School Houses (FISH) and shall certify to the Office that the inventory is current and accurate.”  Note that the April 1 date, which is a change from the previous requirement of October 1, is required by SREF 2008 to make FISH data collection more uniform across systems, including information required for the Education Data Warehouse.

1013.31(1)(b)1 F.S. requires the Net Square Footage and the Student Stations reported in FISH to be ninety-five (95) percent accurate.  Facilities Services surveys and adjusts every School District facility on a regular basis to insure a minimum of 95% accuracy in the FISH database.

Recommendation

Authorize the Board Chair and Superintendent to sign the attached form, certifying to the Florida Department of Education that the facilities data contained in Brevard County School District’s Florida Inventory of School Houses (FISH) is current and accurate, pursuant to applicable statutes and rules.
