Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) Grant
The Division of Equity, Innovation and Choice is requesting permission to write and submit an application for the 2017-2022 Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) grant to provide innovative and challenging programs to students attending South Lake,Palm Bay, and Rockledge. The grant is proposing the implementation of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) theme at these three (3) schools. The purpose of the Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) is to support the development and implementation of magnet schools that encourage diversity through the reduction, elimination or prevention of minority isolation. The 2017-2022 MSAP application, published by the United States Department of Education - Office of Innovation and Improvement is due April 11, 2017. Upon approval of the grant, the Board will be asked to approve permission for Brevard Public Schools to accept the allocated grant funds and to implement the MSAP plan, as approved by the United States Department of Education. The proposed grant budget may total up to $15 million over a five year period. No match of district funds is required.
