Field Trip – Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School’s U.S. Army JROTC to the 2017 U.S. Army Cadet Command JROTC National Drill Championships in Louisville, KY

Discussion

Members from Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School’s U.S. Army JROTC plan to travel to Louisville, KY, from Thursday, March 30, 2017, through Sunday, April 2, 2017, to attend the 2017 U.S. Army Cadet Command JROTC National Drill Championships.  This competition serves as the Official Army JROTC National Drill Championships and brings together the finest Army JROTC drill units annually.  Roughly 45-50 Armed and the same number of Unarmed drill units will compete within Inspection, Regulation Drill, Color Guard, and Exhibition Drill to capture the title as the finest Army JROTC Drill and Ceremony unit.

Up to 15 students are expected to participate and will be chaperoned by one army instructor and one female chaperone.  Students and chaperones will be transported by Express Transportation, and the group will be housed at the Hampton Inn Louisville Downtown on East Jefferson Street in Louisville, Kentucky.

Cost of the trip includes a $100 school registration fee and a $10 per cadet package.  The U.S. Army is paying for all transportation and lodging costs.  There is no cost to the district.

A comprehensive description of the event is attached.

Students will miss two (2) days of school (Thursday, March 30, and Friday, March 31) with a request to deem that as “excused absences.”
