Agenda Item #29

Title
Secondary (Grades 7 through 12) Science Instructional Materials Adoption

Discussion

With the state-wide implementation of the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) and the changes in the science state assessments as of the 2011-2012 school year, new instructional materials aligned with the NGSSS are needed.  Teacher training in the use of the materials will be provided during the summer, pre-planning, and on district inservice days.  Updated curriculum guides for each course, aligned with new course descriptions and materials, will be produced and provided to all secondary science teachers.

The District Secondary Science Instructional Materials Adoption Committee is recommending that the district adopt the instructional materials on the attached list.

Recommendation

Adopt the instructional materials listed as recommended by the District Secondary Science Instructional Materials Adoption Committee.
