Agenda Item #48
AVID Agreement Between Brevard Public Schools and the AVID Center 2010-2011
AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is an international program with the mission to ensure all students, and especially the least served students who are in the middle, succeed in a rigorous curriculum, complete a rigorous college preparatory path, enter mainstream activities of the school, increase their enrollment in four-year colleges and become educated and responsible participants and leaders in a democratic society. Students in nine Brevard Public Schools benefit from this program. In the 2010-2011 school year, Cocoa High and Clearlake Middle School will have their annual membership paid as part of an agreement with the College Board/Florida Partnership Grant.
The cost for annual membership license fee for the other seven schools is $21,700.00. The services provided through this contract include training, materials and support from the AVID national, divisional and state offices.
Approve the AVID agreement between Brevard Public Schools and the AVID Center for the 2010-2011 school year.
