F-33. Satellite High School Student to attend Sanofi-Aventis International BioGENEius Challenge in Atlanta, GA, April 17-20, 2008
On March 21, 2008, 11th grade student, Noel Turner, was advised by Sanofi-Aventis International that he was one of two Florida state finalists selected to advance to the regional competitions to be held in Atlanta, Georgia at the Center for Disease Control on April 17-20, 2008. Noel competed via a poster/paper contest in late February, 2008.
The student and his chaperones, Mr. Joe Scott & Ms. Lisa Scott, Science Research teachers at Satellite High School, will be the people traveling from Satellite High School. They will leave on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. and will return on Sunday, April 20, 2008. The student will miss one school day. The chaperones and student will be housed at the Hotel Indigo Atlanta, Midtown. The cost per person, including airfare, hotel and meals is $400.00, for a total of $1200 for the entire trip. The student won $400.00 for trip expenses. Science Research at Satellite High School will pay the remaining $800.00 in travel.
Due to time constraints, it is necessary to take this item to the board for consent without prior information, as the trip will take place prior to the next scheduled board meeting in April.
To approve Noel Turner, 11th grade student at Satellite High School, to compete at the 2008 Sanofi-Aventis International BioGENEius Challenge in Atlanta, Georgia on April 17-20, 2008.
