Agenda Item #46
F-25. Consultant Agreement: Oak Park Elementary - Julie Teague of Learning Wheels
Julie Teague has been hired by the district on previous occasions. The Learning Wheels Workshop is based on Florida's standards for student learning. Teachers participate in Hands on Activities that promote active involvement and new ways to teach required skills. The work shop includes research on the best teaching practices, instructional strategies for struggling students, differentiated instruction, application and questioning techniques and learner-centered instruction, as well as the wonderful games that they are known for. Each teacher will receive a handout and materials of his or her choice at the end of the fast paced, information filled work shop.
Approve the consultant agreement for Oak Park to sponsor Julie Teague's Learning Wheels Workshop for 40 teachers to be held on March 26 and March 27, 2008. Twenty teachers will attend each day. This training will support teachers in the areas of science, reading, and math. The cost is $7000. Teachers will complete an evaluation sheet in which they assess the effectiveness of the workshop and provide ways in which the information can be transferred to the classroom. All evaluations will be turned in to the Title I Committee and read by the members to assess the effectiveness of the workshop. Results will be shared with the faculty at a faculty meeting.
