Field Trip - Gemini Elementary Lego Jr. Robotics to FIRST Championship World Festival Expo in Houston, TX
Gemini Elementary Lego Jr.- Robotics Team earned a position to present at the FIRST Championship World’s Festival held on Friday, April 21, 2017 and Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the George R. Brown Convention Center (Level 3) in Houston, Texas. The group is comprised of 6 students and one parent of each student (6 adults). Three of the parents are the Head Coach, Second Coach and Mentor for the team. The group will travel by plane from Orlando International Airport on Thursday, April 20, 2017 and arrive at Houston’s Hobby Airport the same day. The parents, coaches and mentor will be booking and paying for flight and transportation costs to and from the event along with any food expenses. Gemini Elementary will only be paying for the cost of 6 hotel rooms. The group will be staying at Hilton Americas Hotel which is located directly beside the convention center. Each parent will stay with their own student in their own room. No room sharing will take place.
The expected cost to Gemini Elementary School is approximately $3686.00, which is expected to be reimbursed from fundraising activities and donations that will take place throughout the remaining of the school year. Students will miss two (2) days of school.
Approve the request for Gemini Elementary’s Lego Jr.-Robotics Club consisting of 6 students and one parent of each student (6 parents) to attend the FIRST Championship World Festival Expo in Houston, Texas April 20-23, 2017.
