Agenda Item #32

Sherwood Elementary School - Design Build Services - SALES SURTAX

Sherwood Elementary School is scheduled in year 2 (summer 2017) of the sales surtax priority list for facility renewal projects. A portion of the mechanical scope was completed in summer 2015 on an emergency basis due to the failure of the chiller. The remaining scope of work was under $2 million and the District engaged Ruby Builders in July 2016 for the project under their design build continuing services contract based on the Design Criteria Package prepared by BRPH.

The project design is complete. The first phase of construction was completed over the holiday break and included some mechanical system work, electrical system renewal and the exterior building wall finish renewal. The final phase will be constructed over summer 2017 and includes the fire alarm, the building automation system and two air handling units. This will complete the facility renewal scope of work under budget by approximately $700,000.

Ruby Builders has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price in the amount not to exceed $484,208 based on the design by DDC Engineering. Administration and permitting costs are estimated at $30,000. Project costs will be allocated in accordance with the attached worksheet.

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000.
