Agenda Item #20

Melbourne High Robotics Trip to World Championships in Houston, TX

The Melbourne High robotics team won the South Florida Regional Competition on March 4, 2017. This win provided the team with an invitation to compete at the World Championships in Houston, Texas on April 19-22, 2017. The student have worked very hard for this opportunity, never expecting to win a regional and obtain an invitation to Championships.

We have corporate sponsorships and family donations which allow us to afford the trip. We will be taking a charter bus, with 41 students and six mentors to Houston. We plan to depart Melbourne High School on Tuesday, April 18th at approximately 5:00 p.m. and arrive in Houston at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19th. We will be departing from Houston on Saturday evening, April 22nd at approximately 8:00 p.m. arriving at Melbourne High at approximately noon on Sunday, April 23rd.

Accommodations to be determined. All chaperones are fingerprinted and one chaperone is a school board employee and female mentor. Students will miss three school days: April 19, 20, and 21, 2017.
