Agenda Item #49
Request a more restrictive dress code at Cocoa Beach Junior Senior
Cocoa Beach Junior Senior High School would like to request a more restrictive dress code for the 2014-15 school year. Being consistent with the dress and grooming expectations is a contributing factor to both the safety and health of students and staff members. Numerous concerns from staff, students, and parents regarding subjective wording, lack of adherence, and insufficient training with the current dress code led Cocoa Beach Junior Senior High School to form a committee consisting of parents, students and staff to view current dress code language and to discuss possible changes. Cocoa Beach Junior Senior High School proposes the following changes: (1) Straps of permitted upper garments must be a minimum of two inches in width. (2) Pajama tops and bottoms are not allowed. (3) Slits in dresses and skirts may not reach above mid-thigh. (4) Slippers are not allowed.
Approve a more restrictive dress code at Cocoa Beach Junior Senior High School.
