Title
Viera High School DECA Trip to Atlanta, GA for the International Career Development Conference and International DECA Competition

Discussion

Viera High School DECA students were winners in the Travel & Tourism Team Decision Making competition in Orlando March 6-9, 2014, and are requesting approval for four female students and one female chaperone to travel to Atlanta, GA May 2-7, to participate in the 2014 International Career Development Conference and International DECA Competition at the Georgia World Congress Center.

The group will travel with Lyman High and Olympia High Schools via Total Transportation Solutions coach bus, which was selected to charter the trip by Seminole County Public Schools.  The group will leave from Lyman High School at approximately 5:00 am on May 2nd.  They will stay at the Marriott Marquis Hotel with competitors from other Florida schools.  The team will return at approximately 7:00 pm on May 7th.  Students will miss four days of school.

The cost per student is $690 plus students will be responsible for funds to cover their individual meals.  Students will be doing fundraising and looking for corporate sponsorship.  There will be no cost to the district. 

 

 



Recommendation
Approve the Viera High School request for four students and one chaperone to travel to Atlanta, GA on May 2-7, 2014 to participate in the 2014 International Career Development Conference and International DECA Competition.
