Naming the West Shore Jr./Sr. High School Stage in the Auditorium the "Jim Melia Memorial Stage"
The West Shore Jr./Sr. High School Advisory Council, students, faculty and staff are requesting that the stage in the auditorium be named after Jim Melia. Mr. Melia was a coach, dean, and assistant principal at West Shore from 2003 until the time of his death in 2013. Prior to West Shore, Mr. Melia worked at Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School and Indian River County Schools as a teacher.
Mr. Melia was an exceptional educator, an outstanding leader, and a person committed to the best interests of the students he served and the faculty and staff that he worked with. Every position he held was served in an exemplary manner. Mr. Melia was also a huge supporter of the fine arts, and he was very involved in the plays and concerts at West Shore.
It is requested that the West Shore stage in the auditorium be named the "Jim Melia Memorial Stage."
Hold Public Hearing and approve the naming of the West Shore Jr./Sr. High School stage in the auditorium the "Jim Melia Memorial Stage."
