School Board Policy Revision - Action
The School Year Calendar Standards are currently in School Board Policy. When these standards must be changed prior to developing the calendar, it takes three Board meetings to get a calender approved. Usually time is of essence to develop and publish the calendars; and having to change policy as part of the process, only delays the process. By removing the School Year Calendar Standards from policy, calendars can be developed and submitted for Board approval over a two-meeting time period and can be published in a more timely manner.
Since the standards must be approved by the School Board and since no changes to the standards can be implemented without that approval, they may be removed from policy without the risk of developing a calendar not based on the standards.
Authorize the Superintendent to advertise for Public Hearing to approve the revised School Board policy listed below:
