Agenda Item #27
Document Based Question Project
The Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for reading require that students read a variety of text types at a higher level of cognitive complexity. These text types represent differing point of views while including issues and problems that persist over time.
The Document Based Question Project (DBQ Project) format provides background information, questioning techniques, analytical thinking process, document analysis, and a systematic writing approach to enable students to clarify their thinking. The systematic analytical process provides a framework for ESE and RtI Tier 2 and 3 support students in high-level critical thinking. The DBQ Project provides professional development for teachers to support effective implementation of critical thinking strategies in their classrooms using variety of historical texts.
The total cost of these services is $12,000.
Approve the DBQ Project proposal to provide professional development for teachers as described above for a total cost of $12,000.
