04-26-2011 Regular School Board Meeting
Agenda Item #32

Title
Contracted Services Agreement with Dr. Bradley Greene, Quality Schools Consultant and Trainer

Discussion

Dr. Bradley Greene is a Senior Faculty member of the Glasser Institute and provides the training for Brevard's Quality Schools.

The Quality Schools Training has proven to show dramatic decreases in student referrals, an increase in teacher satisfaction and increased quality of students' classroom assignments.  Our Quality Schools now have the necessary "tools" to effectively manage the increasing challenges faced by educators nationwide.

The Quality Schools Training follows the required professional development model of on-going training, follow-up, on-site coaching and Professional Learning Communities.  The requested advanced intensive and practicum weeks are needed so participants can fully implement the Quality Schools program.  Brevard has Quality Schools teacher-leaders throughout the District.  The role of these teacher-leaders is to provide the on-site coaching.  Their level of training does not allow them to train at the advanced levels.

Forty (40) Eighty (80) teachers at 14 schools will participate in the final phase of Quality Schools Training to be held in May and June.

ARRA funds were budgeted over the two years for the Quality Schools initiative.  The fees associated with this training will include the cost of materials, travel and facilities.
