Eau Gallie High School Participation in Air Force JROTC Academic Bowl in Washington, D.C.
Eau Gallie High School's Air Force JROTC is requesting School Board approval to participate in the 2011 Air Force JROTC Academic Bowl Championship at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, on June 24-28, 2011. Eau Gallie's AFJROTC team is one of only 16 Air Force Academic Bowl teams in the nation to advance to the finals. The event is sponsored by the Air Force JROTC and conducted by College Options Foundation.
Four students and two chaperones plan to attend the academic bowl. All costs (including air travel, taxi costs, food, lodging, and any other miscellaneous fees) will be paid for by the AFJROTC and College Options Foundation. The students and chaperones will leave Melbourne for Washington, D.C. on Friday, June 24, and return on Tuesday, June 28. They will stay at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. The students will not be absent from school since the trip is being conducted after the school year has been completed. There will be no cost to the District.
