Agenda Item #24
Lease and Joint Use Agreement with Brevard County for Library at Pinewood ES
In 1988, the School Board and Brevard County entered into a Joint Use Agreement to construct a modular library on the Pinewood ES campus. In exchange for a ground lease of $1.00/year, the School Board had use of approximately 5,100 square feet of space in the building for no cost except a pro rata share of the utility costs. The Agreement was renewed in March 2010 and expires in March 2020.
The modular building has reached the end of its useful life and Brevard County would like to demolish it and replace it with a smaller permanent building. Pinewood ES is currently using two classrooms in the existing building for Pre-K students. Because the new building would not have sufficient room for these two classrooms, Brevard County has agreed to pay the School Board $100,000 to relocate two surplus relocatable classrooms to the Pinewood ES campus.
A new Lease and Joint Use Agreement has been approved by the Brevard County Commission.
The new Lease and Joint Use Agreement has been reviewed and approved for form by the School Board Attorney.
A separate Agenda Item will be submitted for approval of the funding to relocate the two surplus relocatable classrooms when a Guaranteed Maximum Price has been obtained.
