Agenda Item #27
Stone Magnet Middle School Science Lab Renovation - Construction Management Services
The science lab project is being funded through the Magnet School Assistance Program as part of their STEAM magnet program. The third year budget of the 2013 grant reserved funding to renovate the science labs to create innovative and state-of-the art STEAM areas in which to learn.
In addition, the chemical storage room needs to be upgraded to meet current standards including a new fume hood and new mini-split unit. This project will be funded through Safety to Life.
The project was designed by RZK under their continuing services contracts with the district. Based on the design, Heard Construction has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for construction management services under their continuing services contract. The GMP for the science lab renovations is $209,980.21 and the GMP for the chemical storage upgrade is $93,548.41. Administrative costs are estimated at $2,000 for each project.
Board approval is required for a purchase order over $50,000. In order to expedite the work, approval is requested as a consent item without prior information.
