2010-11 Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant

Discussion
On March 24, 2010, the Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) submitted an application packet for the 2010-11 Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) grant to the Florida Department of Education for the following schools:  Cambridge Elementary, Jupiter Elementary, Riviera Elementary, South Lake Elementary and Turner Elementary.  As a reminder the original application came before the Board on March 23, 2010.  We are pleased to report that Cambridge Elementary has been selected to participate in this program which operates from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011.  Funding is estimated at $38,775 and does not require a grant match.  FNS will attend a training workshop on April 28, 2010 in Orlando which will cover all the requirements for operating this program.  FNS will partner with Cambridge Elementary to insure all criteria for successfully operating the FFVP is met throughout the school year.

Recommendation
Accept the grant for Cambridge Elementary to participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) for the 2010-11 school year.
