Cocoa Beach Junior Senior High JROTC Field Trip to Washington, DC
The Cocoa Beach Junior Senior High School Army JROTC Leadership Team (consisting of four Cadets) and the Academic Team (consisting of four additional Cadets for a total of eight Cadets) have qualified to be one of only 59 Teams from around the world invited to attend a Leadership and Academic Symposium and competition in Washington, DC at the Army's expense. This Symposium is jointly sponsored by the College Foundation and the U.S. Army and will expose cadets to key civilian and military leaders at the highest level. Cadets from our Battalion had to compete against some 2,500 Army JROTC units and came out in the top two (2) percent worldwide to garner this invitation. The Cocoa Beach Army JROTC unit is one of only four worldwide to be sending both an Academic and Leadership Team to this prestigious event. Students will depart from Cocoa Beach on June 24, 2011 and return June 29, 2011. Students will travel by commercial airlines paid for by the US Army. No school days will be missed. There will also be no cost to the District.
