Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Grant for Jupiter Elementary
On March 20, 2009, the Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) submitted an application packet for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) grant to the Florida Department of Education for the following schools: Golfview Elementary, Harbor City Elementary, Jupiter Elementary, Riviera Elementary, South Lake Elementary, Sunrise Elementary and Turner Elementary. We are pleased to report that Jupiter Elementary has been selected to participate in this grant which operates from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010. Funding is estimated at $42,900 and does not require a grant match. FNS will attend a training workshop on April 30, 2009 in Orlando which will cover all the requirements for operating this program. It should be noted that this is the first time that Brevard Public Schools has applied for this grant and we are honored to have the opportunity to participate in this program. FNS will partner with Jupiter Elementary to insure all criteria for successfully operating the FFVP is met throughout the school year.
