Field Trip - Rockledge High and Cocoa High JROTC Academic Team - National Championship Academic Bowl in Washington, DC
The Rockledge High and Cocoa High JROTC Academic Teams qualified to attend the National Championship Academic Bowl in Washington, DC June 26 through June 30, 2009. One Rockledge High ROTC teacher and one Cocoa High parent volunteer will accompany eight students (four students from each school, five male and three female). Transportation and lodging arrangements are being handled through the US Army Cadet Command and the College Option Foundation. The students will be properly chaperoned at all times. Arrangements have been made for both male and female chaperones. The Rockledge High Senior Army Instructor (MAJ Mallamaci) and Cocoa High parent (Billie Jo Prowdley) will chaperone during all travel times. The teams will travel by commercial air from Orlando International Airport June 26, 2009. The competition will be June 27 & 28 and students and chaperones will be given guided tours June 29 with opportunities to meet some of our elected officials. During the stay in Washington students will be transported by charter bus to and from competition. Students will fly home to Orlando June 30, 2009. All expenses will be funded by the Federal Government at no cost to the district.
Approve the request for the Rockledge High and Cocoa High JROTC Academic Teams consisting of eight students and two chaperones to attend the National Championship Academic Bowl in Washington, DC June 26 through June 30, 2009. Students will not miss any school.
