Agenda Item #44
Eliminate Boundaries for Choice Programs
A proposal to eliminate the boundaries for Choice Programs, specifically, International Baccalaureate, Cambridge and Choice Jr./Sr. High Schools, has been brought forth due to the elimination of corridor transportation for our students. Boundaries that currently identify residential areas for the purposes of applying to our Choice Programs are no longer needed. Parents may wish to exercise their parental choice to apply to a school that may be closer to their place of employment rather than their home. By eliminating these boundaries, parents who are responsible for transporting their children would be able to make a decision based on their family needs.
Approve the elimination of boundaries for Choice Programs beginning with the 2016-2017 application cycle.
