Field Trip for Melbourne High School Crew Team to Oakridge Park, Tennessee
The Melbourne High School Crew Team is requesting School Board approval to participate in the 2008 Scholastic National Regatta in Oakridge Park, Tennessee, on May 21-25, 2008. The students participating in this trip qualified at the state championship the weekend of April 26-27 to attend the national regatta.
Twelve students and five adult chaperones plan to travel by three 7-passenger mini-vans rented from Avis through the school plan. They plan to leave Melbourne High School at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, and return to Melbourne High at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2008. The competition will be held on Friday, May 23, and Saturday, May 24. Two (2) days of school will be missed by the students (May 22 and 23).
The cost will be approximately $325 per student. All costs will be paid for by those attending the regatta. Fundraising opportunities (car wash, rummage sale) will assist students to cover the cost of the trip. Team funds will pay for boat transportation and entry fees. There will be no cost to the District.
Approve the field trip request by the Melbourne High School Crew Team to travel to Oakridge Park, Tennessee, on May 21-25, 2008, to participate in the 2008 Scholastic National Regata.
