Title
AT&T High School Success Grant Proposal

Discussion

The AT&T Foundation grant application will expand and strengthen existing full-time Competency-Based Diploma programs at six high schools (Astronaut, Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Eau Gallie, Rockledge, and Satellite) over a 4 year period with combined budgets approximating $1.76 million. The Phoenix Program will target academically at-risk 9th and 10th grades students, and 8th grade students transitioning to 9th grade to help them with on-time promotion, credit retrieval, and remediation. The Phoenix school programs will provide early interventions to assist students who are failing core courses, at Level 1 FCAT in math or English, chronically absent, or with behavior or disciplinary problems. Services will provide supplementary English and math instruction before, during and after school in the CBD labs, mentors, and enrichment real world career experiences in school and at summer camps. Professional development opportunities to strengthen content and practice, and learn dropout prevention strategies will be available for teachers.  Data collection and evaluation methodology will be used to support further research in the America's Promise Alliance efforts to improve graduation rates. There is no match requirement. The anticipated start date is September 2008. Submisson date for this grant application is May 15, 2008.
